Hey everyone,
with all the noise out there about fancy Biohacks and trendy pills, i'm keeping it simple what are the top 5 must have supplements most people actually benefit from day to day?
Here is my current top 5 natural ish picks that seem to come up the most for general wellness especially if your diet isn't perfect or you are dealing with stress, modern life:
1. vitamin d3 + k2, huge for immunity, mood, bones, and even helping with energy crashes. most folks are low, especially indoors a lot. pairing with k2 makes it way better absorbed.
2. magnesium , calms the nervous system, helps sleep, reduces stress, and supports muscle recovery. seriously underrated for that always wired but tired feeling.
3. Omega 3, anti inflammatory, brain health, heart, joints. helps balance mood and keeps inflammation down from processed food life.
4. probiotics, gut health is everything better digestion, immune support, even mood via gut-brain axis. especially if you eat a lot of processed stuff

I’m curious what people here would actually want — not what brands are currently selling.
If you had to build your own sleep supplement with only 3–4 ingredients max, what would you choose and why?
For example, would you go with things like:
Melatonin
Magnesium glycinate
L-theanine
Glycine
Valerian root extract
GABA
Apigenin
Ashwagandha
Something else entirely?
A few specific questions:
1. Would you prioritize falling asleep faster, deeper sleep, fewer wakeups, next-day freshness, or anxiety reduction?
2. Would you include melatonin at all? If yes, what dose?
3. Do you prefer something you can feel working immediately, or something that builds over time?
4. What delivery format do you prefer — powder, capsules, gummies, liquid, sublingual?
5. What’s your biggest frustration with current sleep supplements?
I’m genuinely interested in how people here think about this. Most products feel either underdosed, overcomplicated, or too sedating the next day.

“I felt calmer.”
“My sleep improved.”
“Energy through the roof.”
We’ve all written or read reviews like that.
But without context, they don’t mean much.
If your sleep schedule changed…
If you reduced caffeine…
If you trained less that week…
If life stress dropped…
You’re not testing the supplement. You’re testing your week.
The hard part about self-experimentation isn’t discipline.
It’s removing everything else.
If you actually wanted to test something properly, you’d need:
• Stable sleep timing
• Stable caffeine
• Stable training
• No travel
• No alcohol swings
• At least 2–3 weeks per phase
And ideally… stop taking it after and see what happens.
Almost nobody does that part.
Be honest — what’s a supplement you were sure was doing something… until you stopped and realized nothing changed?

If you or someone you love is on a statin (like Lipitor, Crestor, , etc.), you probably already know the drill: they are highly effective at lowering cholesterol and reducing cardiovascular risk, but they are notorious for causing muscle pain, cramps, and weakness (statin-induced myopathy).
Usually, the first piece of advice people get is to "take CoQ10." While CoQ10 is great, it often doesn't completely resolve the muscle issues. That’s because it’s only solving half the problem.
I’ve been diving into the research, and there is a compelling case that practically all statin users would benefit from supplementing with **Geranylgeraniol (GG)**. Here is a breakdown of the science and why this matters.
# The Collateral Damage of Statins
Statins work by inhibiting an enzyme called *HMG-CoA reductase*. This effectively shuts down the "mevalonate pathway" in your liver, drastically reducing cholesterol production.
However, the mevalonate pathway is like a massive factory assembly line. C

So I've been trying to get consistent lions mane in my routine for a while now. The problem with most mushroom coffees is they just say "proprietary blend" and you have zero idea if you're getting 50mg or 500mg of anything
Got annoyed enough to actually dig into labels and lucid was one of the few that lists actual amounts. Like I could see the lions mane was dosed at a level that might actually do something instead of just fairy dusting it for the marketing
Been using it maybe 6 weeks? Genuinely feel like my focus during deep work sessions is better. Could be placebo but the 2pm brain fog thing has mostly stopped
Only complaint is it's not as strong coffee-wise as I'd like, I sometimes add a shot of espresso

so the whole "need coffee to function but it makes me anxious" thing has been my life for years. tried mushroom coffee thinking maybe that's the answer
picked up ryze from target and used it for like 2 months. felt... fine? convinced myself it was working but honestly looking back it was probably placebo. eventually actually read the label and it's all "proprietary blend" with no actual amounts listed. did some googling and apparently most of these brands are pixie dusted to hell
ended up finding lucid which actually lists every dose on the label. like you can see exactly how much lion's mane you're getting. costs more but whatever at this point
about a month in now and the focus is noticeably different. no jittery feeling, the afternoon crash is basically gone. idk if it's the transparency or what but something's actually working
anyone else notice a difference when they switched to brands that list doses?

I just see so many crazy claims about the mushroom powders that everyone is currently obsessed with.
Like theres a mushroom powder for every extremely specific problem you can possibly have. How convenient.
"Is your left nostril bigger than the right? Take this ryzome. Did your dad leave you as a kid? Take this mycelimax and all your problems will be fixed. Do you work too much? Snort this shitake powder every morning!"
Many of the marketing tactics for mushroom supplements just absolutely reek of that worst type of new age, snake oil bullshittery to me. Dr. Oz type shit.

Hey all. Sharing my (31m) current supplement stack for discussion and feedback.
Important clarification up front: I don’t take all of these every day. I’m intentional about cycling and timing.
Primary goals:
1. Gut health (I have GERD)
2. Nervous system calm and sleep quality
3. Inflammation control
4. Training performance without heavy stimulation
Supplements I take regularly
Daily:
-Magnesium glycinate
Daily for sleep, anxiety, and muscle relaxation
I’ve tried magnesium L-threonate as well, but don’t notice much difference for the price, so I’m likely sticking with glycinate long term
-Omega-3 fish oil
-Vitamin D3 + K2
-Multivitamin
Only one type per day
Usually 1 tablet instead of the full 2-tablet serving
-Glycine (mostly evenings)
-L-theanine (as needed for calm or focus)
Gut support
-Bovine colostrum
Taken in short stints, not continuously (GERD-related)
-Psyllium husk
Taken far away from all other supplements
Cycled / non-daily supplements
-Tongkat Ali
Fully cycled, not
Poor sleep quality

I started supplementing with magnesium citrate and pretty quickly two things happened:
1. The first is that my energy levels, mood, nasal congestion (inflammation), and my ability to relax/rest meaningfully when I’m sleeping increased sharply. This is what I was hoping for when I was taking it.
2. My symptoms of brain fog distractibility, and poor focus started fading very strongly. One of the biggest problems I have with ADHD is that my hold on time can be very weak like I can look at the clock turn around, look back and an hour has passed.
This feels so weird because I don’t think I’ve ever really felt this present before. I guess it’s hard to explain if you haven’t had ADHD before, but I actually feel more forward moving in my thoughts and I can actually feel time pass at a reasonable pace where I’m not overwhelmed.
So I just wanted to reach out and see if anybody else had a similar experience or maybe an explanation of why this is happening?

I've gotten into supplementation in the past 6 months for health reasons, namely I wanted to maximize my energy, get better quality sleep, and enhance my blood circulation. I did a very wide scope of research but didn't really dig into proper dosages and Tolerable Upper Limits.
This week, I've been doing some analysis on my supplements and I realized I've been overdoing it on some supplements, that may have actually been making my fatigue and brain fog worse.
The main culprit is a 125mcg (5,000IU) Vitamin D that I've been taking for over two months daily. In my research I came to learn that the tolerable upper limit for Vitamin D is 4,000 IU per day, and regularly exceeding this can result in calcium in your blood that can be terrible for your arteries and soft tissues (like the heart), called Hypercalcemia.
Another one that I'm greatly exceeding is Niacin. It's in both my B Complex (25mg) and my Beetroot Concentrate with Nitrates (11mg). TL is 30mg all in, I'm getting 36m

This is the thread for the people wondering if **Ashwagandha** is the right choice for you.
Below is the WIP journey from someone clinically diagnosed with anxiety looking for a natural relief. Just here to track my journey and share my personal experience while taking Ashwagandha.
This journey will include me taking 3 gummies DAILY without skipping for 3 months. (Brand: [Gaia Herbs Organic Ashwagandha Gummies - Gluten Free & Vegan - 81 ct](https://www.amazon.com/Gaia-Herbs-Organic-Ashwagandha-Gummies/dp/B09J226S97?th=1)) After the 3 months, I will take the recommended tolerance break. Note, I am not currently taking any other medications/vitamins/supplements.
**Please note:** There's many ways to take Ashwagandha. Any and all methods are valid and based solely on your preference. My preference is gummies because I hate taking pills. As long as you know the dosage amount (mg) you're taking and following the intake instructions based on the product you choose. It's important to t

Quick back story- 35F, one year postpartum and still breastfeeding our son. I have two autoimmune diseases I have had for decades (psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis- both have been very manageable until this last year where I’ve had AWFUL flares).
I take a lot of supplements in order to support lactation but also assist with my autoimmune issues/flares. I recently discovered I have been taking too much Zinc daily (prenatal, zinc gluconate, and realized my histamine nutrients also have zinc!)
Daily zinc intake: 85mg
Daily copper intake: 3mg
I have a lot of symptoms of copper deficiency but they do overlap with my PsA sumptoms so hard to know for sure. Anyways, I am cutting my zinc to 25mg a day effective immediately. Should I increase copper? How long does it take for zinc to level out? Thanks in advance!

Lions mane has been a serious game changer for me. Caffeine use to give me motivation but my tolerance has gotten so high I think it just gives me energy but no real sense of direction. I get easily distracted, and just feel like I'm wasting the extra energy I have. Caffeine use to scratch my boredom itch when I was a young teen. Now that I'm older I notice that I'd be even more bored when feeling wide awake with no real motivation to do anything. Lions mane give me that gentle nudge, it doesn't force me into being a productive workhorse but it makes it just feel more rewarding to get things done. I'm less distracted while working also. I'm also able to multitask far easier. I've tried strattera and bupropion before for ADHD but they didn't come close to benefits of the lions mane and had very shitty side effects. Bupropion started making my brain feel like a rock, and strattera made my ejaculations very painful and delayed and just weird. They only slightly helped my executive functi

I’ve always been a bit shy and introverted. I function fine, but I often feel mentally “closed”, low on social energy and not very upbeat. I’m not depressed, just sometimes flat, and not very talkative.
I’d like to feel a bit more open, relaxed in conversations and generally more positive and sociable.
I’m not looking for anything extreme or stimulant-heavy, just wondering if there are supplements that can give a mild mood lift and help with feeling more socially relaxed, slightly better mood, more openness/extroversion.

guys' testosterone have never been lower and it’s something i can notice all around me.
The decline of T in men has been going for years now.
There’s microplastics everywhere (including in our balls) and estrogenic shit everywhere that tanks T. Most guys live and eat so different compared to our ancestors which also contributes.
The medical system is broken too. The first time I got a blood test to check my levels I had to beg my family female doctor for it. She was asking all these questions and why i wanted to know my T levels.
Then they only tested me for total Testosterone, not even Free Testosterone or other important stuff for full optimization.
Today’s accepted “normal” range of T levels are bullshit and have been adjusted to fit the low T epidemic that has been plaguing society.
Before 2017 a testosterone reading under 350 ng/dL was considered “low T” and guaranteed a testosterone prescription that insurance would cover.

In 2023, I had two spine surgeries, with complications. Long story short, I ended up being diagnosed with a incurable condition known as Adhesive Arachnoiditis. Essentially, it is chronic persistent inflammation of my spinal cord that limits my mobility. Because of the condition, I have alot of nerve pain in my bilateral lower extremities. I'm currently on long term low dose steroids.
I've been taking supplements for quite some time, making adjustments along the way. I guess at this juncture, my question is, am I over-killing it with my current list of supplements or am I on the right list of supplements stack or am I missing anything out that could have helped me as well. One thing I tried to purposefully do is to ensure some of these supplements can cross blood brain barrier because of the inflammation inside the spinal cord.
My current supplements stack:
**1. Morning before breakfast**
\- R lipoic acid
\- Artichoke
\- Inflmmatone from Designs for Health

After a bout of long covid in the fall of 2022 followed by drastic hormone changes from menopause, I've never regained what used to be my natural state of energy. I couldn’t drink coffee due to my anxiety and caffeine sensitivity and now I drink it every day. I have blood work done regularly for my hormone therapy and am not deficient in anything. I did not have issues with sleep but right after getting pregnant I was constantly waking up at night multiple times and then slowly it turned into nighttime anxiety. My OB prescribed me, Zoloft, but I don’t want to take it because of all the side effects and the high possibility of it being hard to come off. I just have to fix my sleep. I started taking L-theanine and it has calmed me down at night but I still don’t get enough sleep, maybe 3-4 hours of broken sleep. I wake up every 30 minutes - 1 hour.
Any other supplements that will help me? I don’t like melatonin and remember years ago a doctor told me it’s not good to take it because our body already produces melatonin and we shouldn’t mess with it

Magnesium is essential and can be taken during pregnancy. You can try eating 1-2 kiwi before bed, as well. They have a natural form of melatonin in them and will also help with digestion and any constipation you might be having.

You absolutely need to take DHA and EPA, i am low key addicted to a vegan version derived from algae. Its more calming than weed and very healthy for your baby.

L-tryptophan is great for this, but I do not know if it is safe during pregnancy. So check with the health pro of your choice before taking this or any supplement.

Hello all. I am currently taking Lithium Carbonate. It is well known that overtime Lithium, especially at higher dosages, erodes thyroid function and can also in severe cases cause kidney failure. I already take random days off of the lithium here and there. Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus is what they call it when damaging kidneys. Chronic Tubulointerstitial Nephropathy is what we are trying to prevent I believe. Hypothyroidism is the thyroid problem. Can anyone recommend supplements that I can cycle to reduce kidney/thyroid damage?
If you could be so kind as to help me to not damage myself trying to deal with treatment-resistant depression. Thank you greatly!

It's good but:
